Lightsaber User Manual: Setup & Operation Guide
Lightsaber User Manual
This general user manual covers the basic setup, operation, safety, charging, maintenance, and troubleshooting of NovaSaber lightsabers.
Controls and available features may vary depending on the soundboard or core installed in your lightsaber. For advanced settings and button controls, refer to the manual for your specific core.
Before using your lightsaber: Make sure the blade is properly installed, the retention screws are secure, and the battery has sufficient charge. Do not overtighten blade retention screws.
Getting Started
Your NovaSaber consists of several main components. Exact specifications may vary by model and configuration.
- Hilt: Aluminum housing containing the lightsaber electronics.
- Blade: Polycarbonate blade available in RGB baselit or Neopixel configurations depending on the model.
- Core: The internal electronics system controlling lighting, sound, motion response, and other supported effects.
- Control Button: Used for power and supported lightsaber functions. Button behavior varies by core.
- Blade Retention Screws: Secure the blade inside the emitter.
- Battery: Rechargeable battery located inside the hilt or core, depending on the lightsaber design.
Quick Setup
Install the Blade
Insert the blade fully into the emitter until it is properly seated.
Secure the Blade
Gently tighten the retention screws until the blade is secure. Do not overtighten.
Power On
Use the control button to activate your saber. Exact controls depend on the installed core.
Identify Your Lightsaber Core
Different NovaSaber configurations use different electronics. Identifying your core is important because button controls, effects, sound fonts, and customization options can vary.
| Core | Blade System | Recommended Use | Key Characteristics |
|---|---|---|---|
| RGB S4 | RGB Baselit | Dueling & General Use | Simple controls, in-hilt lighting, durable blade setup. |
| RGB S16 | RGB Baselit | Dueling & General Use | Expanded sound options with durable baselit construction. |
| S-RGB | RGB Baselit | Dueling & Customization | RGB baselit system with additional sound and app-based customization features. |
| SN-Pixel V4 Pro | Neopixel | Cosplay, Display & Controlled Dueling | Advanced blade effects, motion response, sound fonts, and app-based customization. |
| Proffie V2.2 | Neopixel | Advanced Customization | Highly configurable sound, blade effects, and advanced user customization. |
Important: Neopixel blades contain internal LEDs and electronic connections. They are better suited to controlled and light-to-moderate dueling. For repeated heavy-contact sparring, RGB baselit systems are generally the more practical choice.
Basic Operation
Basic controls vary depending on the soundboard installed in your lightsaber. Avoid relying on a universal button sequence if you are unsure which core you have.
Depending on your configuration, available functions may include:
- Power on and power off
- Volume adjustment and mute mode
- Blade color selection
- Sound font selection
- Blade style selection
- Flash-on-Clash
- Blaster effects
- Blade lock
- Motion controls
- Additional effects supported by the installed core
For exact button sequences and advanced configuration, use the dedicated manual for your lightsaber's soundboard.
Charging & Battery Care
Proper charging and battery care are important for safe, reliable lightsaber operation.
- Use a 5V 1A charging source.
- Remove the blade before charging when appropriate for your lightsaber configuration.
- Do not use damaged charging cables or damaged batteries.
- Avoid exposing the battery or electronics to excessive heat, moisture, or direct water contact.
- If the lightsaber will not be used for more than 30 days, remove the battery where the design allows safe battery removal.
Charging reminder: Use the recommended charging specification for your saber. An unsuitable power source may damage the battery or electronics.
Blade Installation & Removal
Installing the Blade
- Make sure the lightsaber is powered off.
- Loosen the blade retention screws if necessary.
- Insert the blade fully into the emitter.
- For Neopixel models, ensure the blade is properly seated against the internal contact pins.
- Tighten the retention screws gently until the blade is secure.
Removing the Blade
- Power off the lightsaber.
- Loosen the blade retention screws.
- Carefully pull the blade straight out of the emitter.
- Store the blade in a clean, dry location.
Do not overtighten retention screws. Excessive pressure may damage the blade surface or create unnecessary stress on the blade and emitter.
Safety & Maintenance
- Inspect the blade, hilt, and retention screws before dueling.
- Stop using the lightsaber if the blade or hilt becomes visibly damaged.
- Keep the lightsaber away from water and excessive moisture.
- Clean the hilt and blade with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and excessive moisture.
- Store the lightsaber in a cool, dry environment.
- Use appropriate protective equipment when participating in contact dueling.
Troubleshooting
The Lightsaber Does Not Turn On
Check the battery charge and make sure the battery and internal connections are properly seated.
The Blade Does Not Light Up
Check that the blade is fully inserted. On Neopixel models, make sure the blade is making proper contact with the internal connection pins.
There Is No Sound
Check whether the lightsaber is in mute mode and confirm that the volume has not been reduced. If your core uses an SD card, check it only according to the instructions for that specific core.
The Blade Flickers or Disconnects
Power off the saber, remove and reinstall the blade, and make sure it is properly seated and secured.
The Saber Is Not Responding Correctly
Recharge the battery and restart the saber. If the issue continues, refer to the manual for your specific soundboard or contact NovaSaber Support.
