Though it never cracked mainstream headlines, the 2015 Marvel space-fantasy series—simply titled Star Wars—quietly became the cornerstone for every tie-in comic that followed. To mark its 10th anniversary and celebrate a decade of expanded-universe storytelling, Marvel is dropping a one-shot anthology titled A New Legacy on January 29, 2025.
The talent roster reads like a “best of modern comics” checklist:
• Charles Soule (Daredevil, Death of Wolverine)
• Jason Aaron (the original 2015 run’s architect)
• Kieron Gillen (creator of breakout archaeologist Doctor Aphra)
• Charles Soule (Daredevil, Death of Wolverine)
• Jason Aaron (the original 2015 run’s architect)
• Kieron Gillen (creator of breakout archaeologist Doctor Aphra)
Interior art is led by Ramon Rosanas, whose clean, cinematic style has defined the look of the galaxy for years.
Because this is an anthology, expect rapid-fire vignettes instead of one long arc. Marvel’s teaser already hints at three can’t-miss tales:
-
Imperial Masquerade – Soule scripts a high-stakes heist on Alderaan during a summit of the Empire’s top brass. Doctor Aphra and smuggler Sana Starros crash the party, unaware that both bounty hunter Valance and a dormant Sith artifact are about to make things explosive.
-
Task Force 99: Last Mission – Gillen finally reveals the fate of the elite stormtrooper unit known as Scar Squadron. Their final op hits the page for the first time, answering a question fans have debated for years.
-
Aphra & the Dark Lord – Gillen returns to the toxic mentor-student chemistry between Aphra and her one-time boss. Triple-Zero, BT-1, and Krrsantan tag along for a reunion tour of sarcasm, blasters, and betrayal.
One book, four creative heavyweights, and more galaxy-shaking twists than a hyperdrive malfunction. Circle January 29 on your calendar—this is the anniversary party every true believer deserves.
